Mr. Joachim
Now that it is winter you should always put safety first. Make sure when go out for your morning commute that you have chains and most importantly that you know how to put them on. You should also have a safety kit in case of emergency. It should involve a blanket, matches, and water.
When there is a new blanket of snow on the ground make sure you leave earlier then you plan on. Also when there is a fresh blanket of snow you should drive slower than the posted speed limit. Before the snow season starts make sure that you have good reliable tires on your vehicle. To sum it up drive safely and be prepared if you get stuck.
What is bullying? Wha is the cause of bullying? There are many causes of bullying, But what are people doing about it? Children are commenting suicide almost every day because they are bullied for how they look or how they act. Don’t believe me? Ask a friend or if your a Parent ask your child. They may have been bullied or they may have bullied another person. Somewhere in this world right now there is a child being bullied. Not too long ago there was a high schooler that was bullied because of his weight. He is a sophomore and almost committed suicide before his mom stopped him. His mother shared a facebook post about how upset he was and how mad she was. Those kids that were bullying him called him “fat” or “enormous” And in the post, it said that it was only the second day of a new school for this Sophomore. When he got off the bus and opened the door to his house he started crying. His mother tried to calm him but it didn't work. He was upset for almost a week she said. Parents need to teach their children what bullying is and that it should not be accepted in our world. Parents, please teach your kids to be kind to everyone every day. Thank you. -seraphine wallette
Does Social Media Make Us Feel Loney? By: Moriah Ruiz
Social media is a great way to connect to people all over the world. We can see how people think. We can view cultures and art and many other things. But we’ve changed how we view it we think that these people are so much better than us, happier, and prettier. It makes sense really we see these rich and gorgeous people having the time of their lives and we wonder why we can’t have that. Now social media is not all bad it’s like coffee you can have it in certain amounts otherwise you are bouncing all over the place and feeling sick.
Social media have infected everyone, “ In the last fifty years, regardless of geographic location, gender, race, or ethnicity, rates of loneliness have doubled in the United States.” (https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/modern-mentality/201810/is-social-media-making-you-lonely) We have surrounded ourselves with the idea that we are not good enough and we use these pictures to prove it to ourselves. But the reality is that the people you envy also feels the same wondering why they are not good enough either. But again social media is not all bad many people can make friends and can discuss problems that they are having. Smartsocial (https://smartsocial.com/positive-impact-of-social-media/) has concluded that “One of the reasons why teenagers are on social media is so they can search for new information on people, explore new ideas, express themselves the way they want to, and connect with others all over the world.”
In conclusion, social media is great but only in small doses. It’s like a drug if we get a fix we think we’ll feel better but we don’t. Now it is not proven that we can get addicted to social media but there have been many facts that have proven “ Although the majority of peoples’ use of social media is non-problematic, there is a small percentage of users that become addicted to social networking sites and engage in excessive or compulsive use. In fact, psychologists estimate that as many as 5 to 10% of Americans meet the criteria for social media addiction today” (https://www.addictioncenter.com/drugs/social-media-addiction/)
If you work in front of a computer all day, you may notice that your eyes get tired, dry, or itchy. Staring at a screen for hours at a time can take a toll on your sight. You may worry that you’re permanently damaging your eyes, or you might wonder what you can do to deal with the discomfort. If you’d like to know more about the relationship between your eyes and your computer, keep reading. You’ll learn how screens affect your vision and your health and what you can do about it. If your work involves heavy computer use, you may notice eye trouble. You’re not alone—at least 50 percent of those who work in front of a computer report eye issues, but the number may be closer to 90 percent. You may notice symptoms like: Blurry vision Dry, itchy, or red eyes Double vision Headaches None of these symptoms are fun, and if they’re severe enough, the quality of your work may suffer. These symptoms are often called computer vision syndrome. Like carpal tunnel syndrome, the condition is caused by repetitive use: your eyes work hard to keep reading on a computer screen, and they get tired. Just reading from a page for a long time can be hard for your eyes, with all the eye movement and close-up focus the task requires, and computers make the problem worse. The glare, flickers, and screen contrast on a computer screen require even more from your vision.
